This event will start out at the Dairy Queen Restaurant in Muldraugh on Saturday, December1st at 8:30am. and end at 9:15am. For those of us that want to hike, we will then drive 1-mile East to the listed trailhead at Otter Creek Park. If you are not a member of the park, there is a $3 fee for each person, children under 12 are free.
You do not have to hike to attend this event, simply come out and enjoy some geo talk with everyone.
After our Breakfast those who wish to hike will gather in the parking lot around 9:30am for the drive over to the hiking area. We plan to hike the lower areas (Boone Hollow) of the park (see bookmarked caches attached to this event).
There may be several creek crossings to navigate so prepare with walking sticks and water proof boots, we will stick to trails as much as we can but plan to do some challenging caches, most notably one that says “This cache is not for Sissies”, so plan accordingly. Dogs are allowed but must be on leash for this hike.
This is roughly a 4-mile hike that has a lot of ups and downs. Be prepared with warm clothing and plenty of water and a snack for the trail. Hiking boots are a must on this hike. We will start out at the parking area and do a somewhat clockwise hike.
See Bookmark list on this page for the caches in this area.
If there is a major snow fall the park might close the road so this event could be canceled. Keep an eye on this event cache for further details. Otherwise this is a rain or shine event.
