The "Parco Tematico della Grande Guerra" consists of trench systems and bunkers that have been partly restored for the centerary of the Great War. Several of these sites can be found on the hill that forms the north eastern boundary of Monfalcone. The Joffre trench formed a key feature of the system here and now that the bushes have been cleared it is possible to follow the zigzag route that it takes up the side of the hill. The Caverna Vergine was used as a field hospital and has two entrances in the trench. Not really of speleological interest as it was stripped of its calcite formations long ago, but interesting nevertheless!

Park in Monfalcone and cross the railway using one of the three places indicated as trailheads. Make your way to the Joffre trench via the path network. Enter the cave by either entrance and descend the rough stone steps to the bottom gallery. You will need a light! The cache is hidden in a small natural cavity in the wall. Use the plan of the cave and the spoiler pictures to locate it. Take a pen as there is no pen in the cache.

Il "Parco Tematico della Grande Guerra" è costituito da trincee e bunker parzialmente restaurati per il centenario della Grande Guerra. Molti di questi siti si trovano sulla collina che forma il confine nord-orientale di Monfalcone. La trincea Joffre era un collegamento chiave del sistema e ora che i cespugli sono stati ripuliti è possibile seguire la via a zigzag che sale il fianco della collina. La Caverna Vergine è stata sfruttata come ospedale da campo e ha due entrate nella trincea. Non proprio di interesse speleologico perché è stato spogliato delle sue formazioni calcarei molto tempo fa, ma comunque interessante!

Parcheggiare a Monfalcone e attraversare la ferrovia utilizzando uno dei tre punti indicati come trailhead. Dirigiti verso la trincea di Joffre attraverso la rete di sentieri. Entrare nella grotta da uno degli ingressi e scendere le scale di pietra grezza fino alla galleria più bassa. Avrai bisogno di una pila! La cache è nascosta in una piccola cavità naturale nel muro. Usa la pianta della caverna e le foto spoiler per trovarla. Porti una penna perché non c'è una penna nella cache.
