From finding new favorite places, people, and puzzles, geocaching is full of moments that should be captured on film and shared with the geocaching world. Each year, filmmakers submit a great story about the game we love and send it to Geocaching HQ for review and possible selection as a finalist for the Geocaching International Film Festival (GIFF).

The Geocaching International Film Festival is an annual showcase of the creativity of geocachers worldwide through the short family-friendly films they submit. Attending a GIFF Weekend event between November 8-11, 2018 is your chance to watch the entire reel of the finalist films from the 2018 Geocaching International Film Festival and earn a souvenir for your profile.Â
We will gather at Pizza Inn, 5420 Clinton Highway, Knoxville, at 6 PM for dinner. The movie will begin about 6:30 and runs approximately one hour. Those that would like can stick around for discussion and door prizes afterward. We should be finished about 8:00.
This year will be the first-ever worldwide vote for GIFF People’s Choice Film. After watching the films, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018GIFF and vote for your favorite (one vote per Geocaching.com player account). Voting closes Tuesday, November 13, 1:00 PM EST. The winner will be announced in a future Geocaching Blog: https://www.geocaching.com/blog/.Â
All are welcome and we hope to see you there!

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning and effort to create and place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, the journey or location, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or "copy and paste" logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
Travel Bug Etiquette: Cachers pay good money for Travel Bugs and Geocoins. If you take a TB or GC from a cache will you PLEASE ensure it is correctly logged in and out. If you take one that still shows it is somewhere else, please be patient before “grabbing” the item; it does not get its mileage by being grabbed before the last person to drop it has had time to log their placement. This is particularly important on busy and new caches. If you have an issue with a bug or coin, please e-mail or message the owner through their profile and advise them of the issue; they will be pleased to hear from you.
