Geocache Description:

This poor Autobot Transformer died of old age.

The Decepticon from Ancient Autobot Burial Ground #10' (GC7K1WN) would often mock this Autobot, claiming he was the more superior Transformer.

Before he passed, he hid his Energon cube, which you must find and sign.

To find the location of the lost Energon cube (container), you must navigate to the following coordinates (after solving the riddles):

N45° 16.(E-1)(A+G+3)(D-1)' W075° 49.(C+5)(F-2)(B+3)'
Note: The brackets do NOT mean multiplication, each bracket resolves to a single digit.

[FIELD PUZZLE]

The deceased Autobot is located at Stage 1. No picture of the suggested route is provided for this one, as it's pretty straight forward. From the park, take the same path as you would have to find Auotbot #18 (GC7T1X3), except when you come to a fork, go straight (south) instead of left (east). Google has these trails available anyway...

At the location of the deceased Autobot (Stage 1), solve the following:
  • A = If the Autobot is a car, then A=1, if the Autobot is a truck, then A=2, if the Autobot is something else, then A=3
  • B = 3 (This used to be the number of "wheels" this Autobot has. I counted 3, but others say 4... so use 3 as the answer for B)
  • C = Identify the object that is around 6 meters away from the Autobot (away from the path, i.e. in the south-west direction). If the object is a fridge, then C=1, if the object is a giant Transformer mobility device, then C=2, if the object is a stove, then C=3

Now you must navigate to the 4 nearby stages and observe your surroundings. What you find there will be associated with a number that you will need in order to find the lost Energon cube. There is no reason to assume that the same 'object' cannot be found at different stages. The "corresponding number" and coordinates to visit are listed below.

The corresponding number for each "object" that is found at the stages:

  • 1 = Some sort of Transformer engine/generator (rectangular in shape)
  • 2 = A potential 'upgrade part' for this particular Autobot (knowing what type of transformer this is will make this more apparent, but unfortunately this old Transformer passed away before he could receive the upgrades. This part would have use for humans when in vehicle form or as a weapon when in robot form)
  • 3 = An wooden Autobot defense lookout tower
  • 4 = Ventilation pipe leading to a hidden underground Autobot base
  • 5 = A large roll of Autobot perimeter defense material
Destinations to "Observe" at:
  • D = Number of 'thing' found at: N45° 16.011' W075° 49.399' (corresponds to Stage 2) (OBSERVATIONAL NOTE: There are actually 2 of these 'objects' in close proximity, but do not attempt to add the corresponding numbers together or anything.)
  • E = Number of 'thing' found at: N45° 16.011' W075° 49.395' (corresponds to Stage 3)
  • F = 2 (enough people had difficulty with this one. Either the object moved, or my coordinates were off, so the answer to F is 2)
  • G = Number of 'thing' found at: N45° 16.046' W075° 49.314' (corresponds to Stage 5) (look near the base of a small tree - it's hidden in there pretty well with the weeds)

Notes:
  • If your calculations appear to be taking you back the way you came... then you are on the right track.
  • The round trip to visit all the stages and then find the cache is under 2km.
  • If you are "bad" and receive the final coordinates from someone else, please at least visit Stage 1 which has the Deceased Autobot - since this is supposed to be the 'fun' part of this series.

Be sure to private message me if you know of any other undiscovered Autobot burial grounds (old cars/trucks/motorcycles/skidoos/boats or random scraps of metal) in, or near, Ottawa ;) - and don't forget to 'favorite' these if you are enjoying the series.
