Ok, as geocachers we get to name landforms that are unnamed, right. Well, ScouterHerb & Mrs B hid a cache (GC1F9WT) on the northwest end of this little ridge way back in 2008, well before the mountain bike folk constructed the Pneuma Bike Trail across its' meadows. So, I thought it should have the name of "ScouterHerb & MrsB Ridge". It is a pleasant ridge of open, flower filled meadows not far above the Moose Mountain Parking area. It is not visible from that parking area and hence receives little attention. It may be crowded down there and along the summit road but deserted up here other than the occasional bike rider. Anyway, I decided to hide a cache on the summit of the ridge to forever cement that name in the minds of geocachers, if not anyone else.
ScouterHerb & MrsB Ridge
The ridge can be accessed a couple of ways, by a very obvious steep trail starting from the Moose Mountain Road two or three hundred meters NW past the parking area or simply walking up from the parking area across the road and making the very steep but short scramble to the SE end of the ridge. From that point it is a few hundred meter walk to the summit cache.
As with all mountain walks go prepared with adequate gear including bear spray and maybe a friend or two. The views are spectacular.
The cache is a small LnL in a hanger in a tree, maybe 1.5 meters (or so) above the ground. See spoiler photos.
The Moose Mountain Road to the parking area is only open to the public from May 15 to Nov 30 of each year. It would require a very long walk to access the cache outside of that time period.
