We were told that this 'Badlands-esque' pocket is colloquially called 'Mars' by nearby residents. It is a tan-brown area with some pine-trees and smaller shrubs scattered around. It's main two features are the open 'grove' below and the veiny 'ledge' above. A great place to explore during the afternoon hours, with a slab of rock on the top of the ledge where many visitors have carved their names and other messages. Be safe, have fun, and enjoy this cool, tucked-away piece of Tyler!
Parking -- The area is approachable from two positions, but only during daylight hours.
The 'grove' from the North: Meadowbrook Apartments, Building D -- on the southern side of the complex near the second wash-room
The 'ledge' from the South: The very back of a driveway just immediately before Splash Car Wash on Shiloh Road
Safety -- Some of the terrain is steep and can fall out from under you if you're trying to walk straight up or straight down. There are oppertunities to climb the base to the ledges (or down from them) if you explore around the western flank. It should also be noted that there is always broken glass around the area but scarsely any muggles during daylight hours. Still, be advised.
