Geocache Description:

The cache IS NOT at posted coordinates, you must solve the puzzle below to find the real coordinates.

Jumanji is a fantasy children's picture book, written and illustrated by the American author Chris Van Allsburg. It was made into a 1995 film of the same name. Both the book and the film are about a magical board game that implements real animals and other jungle elements as the game is played; thus the dangers which the players have to overcome in the game also appear in real life.

While their parents are out for the evening, Judy and Peter Shepherd, after playing with some toys, become bored and decide to go to the park. There they find a jungle adventure game called Jumanji. Taking the game home, they read the instructions as follows:

  1. Player selects piece and places it in deepest jungle.
  2. Player rolls the dice and moves piece along path through the dangers of the jungle.
  3. First player to reach Jumanji and yell the city’s name aloud is the winner.
  4. VERY IMPORTANT: ONCE A GAME OF JUMANJI IS STARTED IT WILL NOT BE OVER UNTIL ONE PLAYER REACHES THE GOLDEN CITY.

The pair soon discovers that any dangers encountered in the game spring to life somewhere in the house. For example, when Peter rolls on a lion, a real lion appears, which Judy and Peter trap in their mother's bedroom. Continuing on, Judy rolls on a stampede, Peter rolls on a monsoon, and Judy rolls on an explorer—each appears in real life to wreak havoc in the house. Still they continue to play, hoping that by finishing the game everything will go back to normal.

Judy and Peter need your help to get to The Golden City ….. Can you help to get them there?

Solve for –

North A B.CDE

West F G.HI

B = Peter takes the first roll and lands on “Lion Attacks,” what is the number he rolls to get to this space?

C = Judy’s turn, she rolls the dice and lands on “Monkeys Steal Food,” the number she rolls plus the number of turns she loses.

F = Peter rolls and lands on “Monsoon Season Begins,” eighty-nine is the number you need here.

E = Back to Judy to roll and she lands on “Guide Gets Lost,” the number of turns she loses then add two.

G = Peter’s turn and he lands on “Bitten By Tsetse Fly,” add the number of his roll plus the number of turns he loses plus seven.

A = Judy rolls and lands on “Rhinoceros Stampede,” add twenty-nine to the number of spaces she has to go back.

H = Back to Peter who rolls and lands on “Python Sneaks Into Camp,” Subtract the year this book was first published from two thousand and forty-one.

D = Peter has to roll again and lands on “Volcano Erupts,” double the number of his roll.

I = Judy takes the final roll while begging for the right number to come up so the game can be over and she excitedly rolls the number needed and she excitedly yells JUMANJI. What number did she need to roll to end the game, take that number and subtract ten.

If you followed all the rules and successfully made it to the end then CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE MADE IT TO THE GOLDEN CITY and everything finally goes back to normal.

But BEWARE, this puzzle may not be over. You will find the container at the solved coords, but may need to play a little (or a lot) longer. Do not add logs, YOU MUST get to the log that is INSIDE the physical puzzle to claim a find. If you do not sign that log or add logs somewhere else, your log will be deleted. Do not break open this container, that’s no fun for you, me or future finders. Thank you.

Please Note - there is a $4 per vehicle park access fee plus .50 per person over 6 people
