Tervetuloa viettämään kanssamme keväistä viikonloppua Ouluun, tervan ja teknologian kaupunkiin! Tar ´n´ Tech -suurtapahtuma järjestetään meren äärellä Nallikarin upealla ranta-alueella 25.5.2019. Lokikirja on avoinna kello 09:00 - 19:00. Pääpäivän lisäksi tapahtumia ja tekemistä riittää koko viikonlopulle.

Vuonna 1605 perustettu kaupunki nousi kukoistukseensa tervakaupan myötä ja oli aikoinaan yksi maailman suurimmista tervanviejistä. Vuosisatojen saatossa tuo Pohjolan musta kulta on muuttunut piirilevyiksi, pelisovelluksiksi ja puukaasuenergiaksi, joita kehitetään täällä Pohjoisen Piilaaksossa.

Noin 200 000 asukkaan kaupunki tarjoaa mahtavat puitteet sekä urbaaniin seikkailuun että luonnon helmassa kätköilyyn. Rentoa kaupunkilomaa toivovat voivat suunnata leikkimään Hupisaarten puistoalueelle, katselemaan Pikisaaren kauniita puutaloja tai keskikaupungille moikkaamaan Toripolliisia. Aktiivisempaa menoa löytyy esimerkiksi Oulujoella meloskellen kuin entisajan tervansoutajat konsanaan tai vaeltaen Oulujokilaakson Tervareitistön upeissa maisemissa. Kaupungin yli 600 kilometrin mittainen pyörätieverkosto mahdollistaa kätevän liikkumisen kätköltä toiselle.

Pohjois-Suomen geokätköilijät ja Oulun seudun noin 1300 kätköä toivottavat kaikki palijasjalakaset ja tullista tulleet lämpimästi tervetulleiksi!

We warmly welcome you to come and enjoy an exciting weekend with us in Oulu, the city of tar and technology! The Tar ´n´ Tech- grand event will be held by the sea at gorgeous Nallikari beach area on May 25th 2019 and the Log book is available between 09:00 am and 07:00 pm. The main event day is Saturday and in addition other events and activities will be organized throughout the weekend.

The city of Oulu was founded in 1605 and it became one of the largest tar exporters in the entire world. Barrels of tar were shipped all around Europe and “the black gold of the north” made the city flourish. Nowadays the city is known as the Arctic Silicon Valley, where new technical innovations like 5G-wireless system, smart rings and hyperspectral cameras are being developed.

The vibrant city of about 200 000 inhabitants offers amazing possibilities for geocaching in urban surroundings as well as adventures in nature. Those who are looking for a relaxed city holiday can stroll around the beautiful park area Hupisaaret, walk along the banks of Oulu River or observe local life in the pedestrian street Rotuaari.

Adventure-seekers can head for a hike on the Oulu River Valley Tar Trail, explore islands in the river delta on a canoe or discover over 600 kilometers of cycle paths and about 1300 geocaches in the region. The geocachers of Oulu heartily welcome you to our lovely city!
