Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to my good friend Pilot searcher. Pilot searcher is almost a "septuagenarian," although he doesn't act like it. I send him in when I am not physically able to do it. I have been on many kayaking adventures with him and have enjoyed his company for several years. We have plans to raft 226 miles of the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon this summer and we are looking forward to that great adventure.

This is one of a series of caches hidden in the Picayune Strand State Forest. Depending on what time of the that you visit this area, you could be walking in water anywhere from ankle to knee deep. To do this series you need to be prepared to wade, walk, and climb for several miles.

The area that you will be going through is a cypress forest. Cypress trees do not grow in elevated areas, they like low lying areas with lots of rain. You may see bears, Florida panthers, water moccasins, and eastern diamond rattlesnakes.

Please don’t forget to pay the Iron Ranger located in the parking area.
