I spent a sunny day with the Great Slave Snowmobile Association (GSSA) shredding some powder with our sleds. We stopped at a nice little bush cabin for a break and some moose stew (thanks Merv). I understand this is a good pickerel lake so will find some time to go back and try my hand at fishing.
Cabin is simple yet great and used recently by a overdue snowmobiler with some sled problems. These bush cabins are a blessing and thanks to all cabin owners who do not lock their doors. This may have saved a life!
Remember the cabin is remote. Snowmobile is the east way to access; route map is available to GSSA members. Otherwise fly-in is the next best option. Hiking or paddling would require many days to get there. If you do snowmobile know that the route is infrequently travelled and rough; a true wilderness trail. A trip here may be dangerous if your not prepared.
Once you arrive you should visit the memorial plaque across the lake on the cliff face. I hear that spot is fantastic for fishing.
