Two in one, the largest mosque on the archipelago and the National Library. The mosque is a must see for everyone who wants to take touring this country seriously.
Mosque. The grand Al Fateh Mosque is both Bahrain’s largest place of worship and among one of the largest mosques in the world. It was built under the patronage of the late Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa in 1987 and was named after Ahmed Al Fateh. The mosque accommodates up to 7000 worshippers and is crowned with the largest fiberglass dome in the world. The walls of the mosque are beautifully ornamented with Kufic calligraphy. Library. The library of Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Center has around 7,000 books, some as old as 100 years or more. These include copies of the books of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad or what is referred to as the books of Hadith, the Global Arabic Encyclopedia, the Encyclopedia of Islamic Jurisprudence, Al-Azhar journals which have been printed more than a hundred years ago, as well as numerous periodicals and magazines. The mosque is opened to public Sat-Thu, 9:00am - 4:00pm, closed to non-Muslims on Fridays. However the cache is not placed inside the mosque and will be accessible even on Fridays. I would, thus, recommend that you avoid the rush hours of Fridays prayers (11h - 12:30h). http://culture.gov.bh/en/visitingbahrain/destinations/Name,10534,en.html#.WfsJFLpuJOw https://www.google.cz/search?ei=JQv7WYHKIMr0avOrpfAH&q=wikipedia+the+grand+mosque+bahrain&oq=wikipedia+the+grand+mosque+bahrain&gs_l=psy-ab.3..33i22i29i30k1.5245.6575.0.7091.8.8.0.0.0.0.222.222.2-1.1.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..7.1.221....0.oJPCX9p-Szg
