Citizens’ Ambulance is a great example of a commercial building taking advantage of green infrastructure! The building utilizes geothermal energy to help with heating and cooling, as well as thick walls and much insulation to keep the heat and cool inside. In the winter, water is pumped through a building and into the warmer ground, where water is warmed and re-circulated through the building, helping to warm it. In the summer, water is pumped into the cooler ground, where the water is cooled and re-circulated through the building, helping to cool it. You never know just by looking at the outside of a building what green practices it might be utilizing!
