Part of the Indiana County GeoTrail
The Blackleggs Cooperative Trout Nursery and Watershed Association has been working to clean up Blacklegs Creek and stock it with healthy, happy trout for over 30 years. The organization is made up of dedicated volunteers that make fishing accessible to all. Every spring, the organization holds a kid’s day where those up to 17 years of age can spend an afternoon filled with fishing and fun. On site, be sure to check out the bulletin board, which contains information about events and membership, and if you have time, head on over to the Blackleggs Memorial Park, located on Cribbs and Shrockman near Young Township.
PLEASE RESPECT THE RULES OF THE NURSERY
These volunteers work very hard, and have a system for raising the trout. That means:
- NO fishing
- NO feeding the fish
- NO wading in the dam
- NO walking on the walls
- NO littering
Thank you! Enjoy!
