Geocache Description:

This cache is east of the town of Atlin, B.C. and will take you to spectacular views in the Ruby Mountain area.

Don't be intimidated by the topo map - you can drive right to the cache! Once there you can walk around to your heart's content.

This is one of my favourite places to visit especially, in the fall and on a Tuesday  To get to the area, take the Surprise Lake Road east from Atlin and cross the bridge at Surprise Lake.  Continue along the road past Surprise Lake Campground, the road is gravel but I drive it in my Equinox and it is fine, just go slow where needed and it's all good. The area is a photographer's dream during all seasons, but especially in September when colours are changing.   The unusual coloured rock contains Iron Oxide, and as you look at the upper slopes, It's easy to see why it is called Ruby Mountain.  There is parking near the cache.
