November's Norfolk & Suffolk Mardle is once again combined with the GIFF (Geocaching International Film Festival) and Church Micro Day celebrations, earning attendees the GIFF souvenir and this year the unique opportunity to log a find on CM 10010.
Event details - Sunday 5th November 14:00 - 17:00 At John's Community Centre, At John's Close, Mildenhall IP28 7NX GIFF Showreel 14:30-15:30 approx. Mardle has not been to the West of Suffolk very often so we are headed to St John's Community Centre where Luke has saved me at the last minute when the social club cancelled! They do have a projector but the sound isn't great so be prepared for that. As in previous years cachers are welcome to attend for part or all of the event. Unlike previous years the films will only be shown once, at 14:30, because using the projector to show them means it won't be quite so easy to chat without disturbing anyone wishing to watch. There is a fee to hire the venue and there will be a £1 entry fee per cacher to help cover costs. This will gain you a film ticket that can be entered into a prize draw on the day, to be drawn at 4pm. Additional entries can also be purchased. Once costs are covered any remaining funds will go to the Yorkshire MEGA Committee. Prize donations gratefully received!
PARKING -
There is a car park at the venue but it is also used by the shop next door so spaces are very limited. Please use local roads but do check signs as some are residents only. Parking is also available at the library in College Heath Road which is a 5 minute walk.
REFRESHMENTS -
Kitchen will be available, donations of tea/coffee/milk etc gratefully received.
Please bring your own food & drink. Items of food/drink to add to a shared table very welcome - Mr Stowmartian has very kindly offered to bring some of his wonderful baking but the more the merrier! Volunteers to wash up will be needed throughout the event as we have to be out of the venue by 5:15 and I have to be at work by 6pm!
RAFFLE -
The hall hire for the new venue is more than the original one but should still be covered if every person attending (each person, not each caching name!) pays £1. To top this up and hopefully have some to donate to Yorkshire Mega there will be a raffle. Tickets will be given in exchange for your entrance fee but additional tickets will also be available for purchase. If anyone has a prize to donate please let me know.
DOGS - are not allowed at the new venue but there is a large area just outside they can be exercised on and if the weather is good you are welcome to spread outside
TECHNOLOGY - If anyone has the expertise to merge the showreel file with the subtitles file please come forward as I haven't got a clue!
