Werkmeisterstatue und Inschrifttafel "machs na"
Am östlichsten Strebepfeiler des nördlichen Seitenschiffs (Seite Münstergasse) steht das lebensgrosse Standbild eines Werkmeisters. Es stellt wahrscheinlich Erhart Küng dar, der gegen 1460 als Bildhauer nach Bern kam und von 1483 bis 1506 Münsterbaumeister war. E. Küng leitete die Bauetappe nach dem Abbruch des an dieser Stelle stehenden alten Leutkirchenturms. Von ihm stammt wohl auch die selbstbewusste Inschrifttafel "machs na", deren Kopie heute am Strebepfeiler östlich des Schultheissenpforte angebracht ist. (siehe Referenzpunkt!) Selten dringt einem abseits von Literatur und offiziellem Schrifttum eine Stimme aus einem weit zurückliegenden Jahrhundert derart persönlich und emotional ans Ohr wie die von Erhart Küng. Es ist, als lache er einem zu, als höre man ihn reden! "machs na" steht auf der Platte in verschnörkelter, schwer lesbarer Schrift. Der Stolz eines Meisters in zwei Silben und Wörtern konserviert in alle Ewigkeit….
Deine Aufgabe
Bei den Listingkoordinaten findest du den Mosesbrunnen vor dem Berner Münster. Hier kannst du diesen Virtual loggen, indem du - getreu dem Motto "machs na", das Berner Münster nachmachst! Du kannst zeichnen, schnitzen, schneiden, nähen, modellieren, falten, kleben, backen, nachstellen, in Beton giessen - deiner Fantasie und Kreativität sind keine Grenzen gesetzt. Damit wir deine Kopie erkennen können, wollen wir mindestens so etwas wie ein Gebädue und einen Turm sehen. Dein nachgemachtes Münster fotografierst du so, dass das richtige Münster im Hintergrund sichtbar ist. So beweist du, dass du vor Ort warst!
Wir freuen uns auf deine Kreativität! Logs ohne Foto oder mit Foto, auf dem das Münster nicht erkennbar ist, werden gelöscht.
Master's statue and inscription "machs na" = „repeat my feat”
At the easternmost buttress of the northern lateral nave (on the Münstergasse side) you can see the life-like statue of a master craftsman. It most likely represents Erhart Küng, who came to Bern as a sculptor in 1460, and from 1483 to 1506 was the master-builder of the Cathedral. E. Küng led the construction work after the demolition of the old Leutkirchenturm which used to stand here. The self-confident inscription "machs na" is likely to be attributed to him. A duplicate is now attached to the pillar east of the Schultheissenpforte. (see reference point)
Outside of literature and official documents it is rare to hear a voice from far gone centuries as vividly as that of Erhart Küng. It is as if he were laughing, as if he were talking to us. "Machs na" inscribed in stone, in a decorative, hard to decipher font. The pride of a master builder in two syllables and words preserved for all eternity.
Your task
At the listing coordinates, you will find the Mosesbrunnen in front of the Bern Cathedral. Here you can log this virtual by following the motto "machs na" (“repeat my feat”) by cloning the Bern Cathedral. You may draw, carve, cut, sew, model, fold, stick, bake, re-enact, pour into concrete – there are no limits to your imagination and creativity. In order to recognize your clone, we want to see at least something like a building and a tower. Once your artwork is done, take a photo of it such that the real Cathedral is visible in the background proving that you personally were at the location.
We are looking forward to your creativity! Logs without photo or with a photo without the Cathedral in the background will be deleted.
