Geocache Description:

This summer the United States will experience a solar eclipse which is when the moon passes between the sun and Earth and blocks all or part of the sun for up to about three hours, from beginning to end, as viewed from a given location. For this eclipse, the longest period when the moon completely blocks the sun from any given location along the path will be about two minutes and 40 seconds. The last time the contiguous U.S. saw a total eclipse was in 1979 (38 years ago), so don't miss out on your chance to view this rare event! Unfortunately, New York is not in the path of totality, so we will be seeing ~70% coverage, but it is still a phenomenon worth seeing! According to NASA's calculations, the start time of the partial eclipse at these coordinates will be 1:23:20 pm, the maximum eclipse will be at 2:44:43.1 pm, and the end time of the partial eclipse will be at 4:00:12.5 pm. This event will run from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the posted coordinates which will offer a nice view of the solar eclipse with the Hudson River as a backdrop.
