Switching up the name on this one. When we arrived, there was an abundance of blueberries here! Not so when we left. This is also the cache you must disembark at.

Welcome to Deerock Lake, Ontario. This area has a collection of low ridges that poke through a flat wetland system along the famous Canadian Shield. In this area you may discover open grassy bogmats, kettle bogs, and shrubby heathlands. The lake is surrounded by red oak, red maple, white pine, white birch, and trembling aspen. Orchids and bladderworts may be found here, along with elk, deer and moose. It is possible to camp along the shores or on one of the many numerous islands for a small fee.

Parking at the public boat launch fee is &10. Take it easy on the road in, it is narrow and winding, but our Ford Ranger managed it with ease.

While here, take time to enjoy the lake, have a picnic lunch, hear the call of the loon.

Parking co-ordinates are being placed for DLA 2017 Deerock #1, and all but one cache can be accessed from your water vessel. They were placed from a kayak. If you are in a motorboat, watch for deadheads.
