13th Annual Memorial CITO

2017.09.23
10:00am - 2:00pm

Come out for the annual Boulder County CITO and help dismantle a structure that time has taken it's toll on. This building was damaged by strong winds over the past few years and Boulder County would like our help to salvage what we can to be repurposed. Our task is to take the building apart, brick by brick, and stack them either on pallets or vehicles/trailers. These bricks will be reused by the county. In addition, the metal roof is being salvaged too.

This will be a lot of hard work - don't go into this one thinking otherwise.

SAFETY CONCERNS: The terrain is uneven in spots. There will be heavy lifting, nails in the trusses, and other typical hazards.

As the event is over the lunch hour, we will be providing lunch for all volunteers.
Everyone participating at this CITO will receive a 2017 CITO souvenir for their geocaching profile! Also, we'll be hosting a FREE DRAWING as a 'Thank You' for coming out!

Weather:
Weather in mid/late September is usually warm and pleasant but can be unpredictable. Please bring sunscreen, appropriate clothing, and plenty of water.

Volunteers should bring:

Drinking water (1-2 liters per person)
Snack
Sunscreen
Work gloves (if you have them)
Hiking shoes/boots
Binoculars or camera (optional)

Boulder County will provide:
Sledge Hammers and other tools
Extra Work gloves
Extra Water
First aid kit

As a result of events like this and your participation, we have received an Award from Boulder County!

This is a Billzjeep inspired event

Who is Billzjeep?

Billzjeep began caching April 2001, logged 965 finds, had 5 hidden caches of his own, and was a recognized cacher in Colorado. He was unable to log his final finds because he passed away suddenly while geocaching with Jeeperz1&2 on March 6, 2004. Since his passing, Colorado has held a CITO event in memory of fallen cachers each year.

Past events held in his memory:
The First Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
The Second Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
3rd Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
Billzjeeps 4th Annual CITO @ Boyd Lake
BillzJeep 5th Annual CITO @Boyd Lake
