In 1938 a standard US Forest Service Fire Lookout was built on top of a small peak on the Klamath National Forest. It was a 14'X 14' two-story house about 25' tall. The Fruit Growers Supply Company deeded one acre of land for the fire lookout. All that remains now is the concrete slab and wood debris. The trees have grown so there isn't much of a view from the site, but on the way to the cache you will have some great views of Mt Ashland and surrounding area!
The final road to the cache does require a high clearance rig. We were able to drive within 0.33 miles of the lookout site, where a huge tree blocks the road. But, its a nice hike up the road to the site. You are looking for a standard size container with log book and swag. Elevation 4,742'.
We looked for the benchmark, but only found the reference point.
