Geocache Description:

Porirua Writer's Walk: A cache highlighting a commemorative sculpture for Michael King.

The Location

On the 1st of July 2017 a mysterious sculpture appeared on Wi Neera Drive in Porirua. It turns out the Porirua Arts Council had the idea of a "Writer's Walk". This sculpture commemorates Michael King (1945-2004) - a well known local writer who would use the local scenery to inspire his poetry and other writing. He authored a number of books with a New Zealand theme notably the "Penguin History of New Zealand" and earned a number of awards..

Some brief information is on a plaque by the sculpture but the associated web site has further information should you be interested.

The cache

Using the philosophy of hiding the biggest cache that is practical at the location, this is a small Sistema container. That should make it pretty easy to find which is intentional at this location because if you don't choose the time of day sensibly an undue amount of stealth will be required. It's about as Park 'n' Grab as it gets.

The cache has a pencil and some small swaps.
