Lojzov teater

Lojzov theater (Lojze's Theatre)

This open-air theater is named after Alojz Usenik (10. 4. 1932 - 13. 7. 2016), who was born in Krvava peč and left the village as a young man to make a living. He lived and worked in Rijeka (Croatia), where he eventually found a job at the local National Theater Ivana Zajca. For several decades he worked as a stage manager, while actively working as an amateur actor and director in the Slovenian Society Bazovica in Rijeka.

Krvava peč ("Bloody furnace")

Some findings say that this area was inhabited since prehistoric times. The village was first mentioned as far back as 1500, when the German name appears: "Blutigen Stain". The village reached its developmental peak in times of the Auersperg family (forest management) and has then also become a cadastral municipality. Around 1900, the village had a population of about 150. The population later began to decline. Current population of Krvava peč is only 13 people.

The place was first mentioned back in 1425. It was then called Rožna vas ("Rose vilage"). The legend goes the Turks invaded the land and three girls, not being able to run from the Turks, jumped from the cliffs into the Iška river, coloring the rocks red. The village was called Krvava peč from that day on.
