The Inclined Plane was constructed in 1829 for the St Helena Railway Company. Now with steps it is more commonly known as Jacobs Ladder. With 699 steps getting steeper closer to the top it is a challanging climb. This cache is near the bottom so no need for too much exersion. The cache is tiny and magnetic, you will need your own pen.
A generous donation from Lord Michael Ashcroft enabled the refurbishment of Jacob's Ladder which was completed in April 2023. Climbing is much safer with steps and metal railings being repaired. Lord Ashcroft was carried as a toddler by his father to the top when they visited on a cruise ship. The refurbishment was made as a tribute to Lord Ashcroft's father and a commemoration plaque placed along side the Ladder.
