Geocache Description:

A Wherigo Cache with a Twist!

This is the first Reverse Wherigo cache in Santa Barbara County!

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. You DO NOT NEED TO GO THERE to begin this wherigo. You can begin it from ANYWHERE in the world. The final location is located within/less than two miles of the posted coords.

This cartridge converts your player into a virtual version of the Reverse Cache Box. It will tell you the DISTANCE to the cache, but not the BEARING. It is kind of like playing the game "hot and cold," but instead of "hot" or "cold", the cartidge will show you how far you are from the cache.

You will probably need to take many readings or queries before you get to the cache. You could potentially use a math equation to solve it in fewer readings, but why not have fun with this and do it without complicated math!

You may begin your search from any place in the world using your Smartphone or Whereigo-compatible GPSr to navigate to the cache. Not every GPSr is compatible, but most of the Garmin Oregons and Colorados are. There is also a smart-phone app for iPhone and iPad, Pocket PC, and for Android.

The original cartridge (and this one, too) was created by a geocacher named -Waldmeister- and to is available to download from the wherigo.com website. Click on the blue text to download the cartridge. By the way, "cartridge" is just a name for a FILE in this case, so you are really downloading a small file.

To get to the final location, you will need to open the cartridge (file) that you downloaded from the link above. (Please note- if you are using an iPad or Smart phone, pick "Pocket PC device" from the drop down menu). Once you open the cartridge, you will follow a small setup set of directions including selectin the language you want to use and if you want the distance to be shown in yards or meters. You will also enter the numbers given below. Once you are all set up, you use the Reverse Cache Box periodically to get the distance you are from the final location. Some people try to use the Revser Cache Box as few times as possilble, but if this is your first Reverse Wherigo, don't worry too much about how many times you check to see how close you are.

When you are setting up the cartidge to begin the game, it will ask you to type in these numbers.

Type in each number carefully.

984394

352614

278321

Tip: Write these numbers down and keep them with you in case your cartridge fails and you have to restart.

The difficulty rating on the cache is because of the wherigo itself, not the hide. Because this whole reverse wherigo thing might be new to you, I made the final hide SUPER EASY so that everyone can find it and log a find on this cache. When you get within 27 yards of the cache you will be given the final coordinates. Then, use the hint and you should be close enough to make the find. Depending on how you approach this cache there may be some street side parking near ground zero, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks to -Waldmeister- for creating the original cartridge and for letting people like me use some of his text from his original cache page.

If you need any help or have any questions, send me a message.
