Our SPLASH: Some Paths Looping Around South Horsham;
a group of easy caches, finding which will lead you on a chase around some favourite haunts of dog walkers, golfers, and other outdoor enthusiasts who just want to escape the town and get some fresh air and exercise.
The Caches
The series consists of 27 caches, including an easy puzzle (SPLASH 23 - History Mystery), plus a bonus cache for a finale (SPLASH BONUS: Tha' Tha' That's All Folks). REMEMBER TO NOTE THE BONUS INFO (there are 9 bits but you get 3 bites :-)
Hopefully you will find History Mystery easy and fun. It should take no more than 15 minutes to read and obtain final co-ordinates. All the information you need is on the cache page!
NOTE: None of our caches sized as micro are 35mm canister size. They are ALL larger, some up to 80mm tall X 50mm diameter pots.
The Walk
The walk covers approx. 8 1/2 km. and will take 3 to 4 hours to complete. Near the half way point, between SPLASH 17 and SPLASH 18 there is a cafe / bar if you need a refreshment break.
RE CHILDREN and DOGS: There's a 300 m. section of road walking along Coltstaple Lane, between #13 and #14, but there is a grassy verge one can use.
Parking
PLEASE NOTE: there are general restrictions on parking in the area to prevent people parking all day
Immediately adjacent to this cache, there is a small free parking area off Chesworth Lane that has room for about 5 cars. However it has a 2 hour limit which is NOT enough for anyone to complete the circuit.
There are other places to park on nearby streets, but the most immediate roads have a restriction between 10 and 12 a.m. Monday to Saturday. Slightly further afield there are areas where the restriction applies between 8 and 10 a.m.
So, if you plan to cache during these restricted hours and want to leave a car nearby, you may need to park in a metered place e.g Fordingbridge Close or Denne Road Car Park.
This Cache
This cache, like many of the series, is hidden in a very high muggle area, but is accessed from behind its obvious host at a point where you should not be very visible while searching for it and signing the log. But please be discrete anyway. And don't fall in!
