There are a lot of these blue and yellow Historical Markers in the area, I've always found them pretty interesting.
Jane McCrea was a young woman that was apparently killed and scalped by Native American allies of the British in 1777. It seems each article written has a slightly different variation of the true events surrounding her death, a lot of them citing her hair as being 'very distinguishing' of her, mostly as a lustrous golden color although in my youth I had also heard it might have been red, thus the main reason she was scalped and not her companion Sara McNeil.
