This is a short multi that will take you through some historical markers near MCAS Futenma.
Stage 1 - 醴泉の塔. The Oyama War Memorial is engraved with the names of the Oyama village members who died during the Battle of Okinawa. The memorial was erected on 23 December 1961. Every September, a ceremony is held to honor those who were lost. (For more information on this memorial site, please visit this site
Stage 2 - You will pass a series of placards. These placards are only in Japanese; however, they provide information on the people and culture of the Oyama village. You will continue on to an area of family graves. Here you will find stage 2.
Stage 3 - Oyama Mayagam Cave. Use caution when caching with your children in this area. As the legend goes, an evil spirit once lived in the cave. This spirit was transformed into a cat and was known to hide local children! (More information on stages 2 and 3 can be found here
