Geocache Description:

ATTENTION: This is an NFC-Cache, please ensure your device is compatible!

"The Lot" takes you beneath Malaysia's iconic Petronas Twin Towers at Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

Welcome to "The Lot", Southeast Asia's first NFC-Cache, and one of the most appreciated NFC-Caches in the world. Following an article on the Geocaching HQ Blog (July 2020), it came tantalizingly close to becoming the most favourited Multi-Cache on the Asian continent. As of January 2022, it appears The Lot has officially claimed that coveted title. My thanks to all for your generous support!

How to get to the cache?

The KLCC Parking Management at Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) maintains 4889 bays spread over four levels, serving the Petronas Twin Towers, Suria KLCC Mall, Maxis Tower and Petronas Tower 3.

The coordinates provided will take you as far as centre court at the Suria KLCC Mall; from here, you will have to find your way into the car park using one of the many available entry points (we suggest using the escalator located directly behind the main elevators at centre court, left of HLA).

The cache is hidden at a depth of about -30m (-98ft), with two massive 451.9m (1,483ft) stainless steel-clad towers on top of it. Do not worry about a GPS signal, it will not be required to find the cache!

Instead, this is an NFC-cache, and to find the cache container you will have to locate hidden NFC-tags.  NFC stands for Near Field Communication. You will require an NFC-capable device to tap and scan the NFC-tags in order to retrieve the information they contain. NFC relies on the radiation emitted from your device; it is a sensitive technology for which we recommend the removal of your phone cover.

The setup is straight forward: each NFC-tag will relay the position of the next until you reach the actual geocache.  Given waypoints match the existing markings of the parking bays.

Note: Opening hours for most stores at the KLCC mall are 10:00 to 22:00, however you can enter the mall from 8:00 onward. Unfortunately, the conveniently located entry/exit points inside the mall become unavailable shortly after closing time, the car park itself remains accessible 24/7 via elevators located on either side of the main entrance, marked "tempat letak kereta", "parking" in Malay.

Estimated runtime: 15-20 minutes (3 stages). The hint provides the location of the first NFC-tag.

Is your device NFC-capable? Need help?

Many mobile phones are capable of scanning NFC-tags by default; others require the installation of an additional application to unlock this capability. Due to the large number of devices available, it is not possible to provide an extensive list of all NFC-capable devices; research the specifications of your device when in doubt, or refer to the comment section for occasional feedback.

Note that this is a "true" NFC-Cache, meaning there is no alternative method to get to the cache! Ensure your device is NFC-capable and install any required app(s) before you start your search!

If you do not have an NFC capable device at your disposal, contact me, I am always willing to help.
