Welcome to the Chippewa Valley Geocaching Battleship game! This series has been hidden around the Chippewa Valley and is based on the Battleship game published by Milton Bradley. Each traditional cache has been given a letter/number combo, which represents the spaces on a Battleship board. That means that there are 100 caches in this series, along with the 5 ship mystery caches and one ultimate final mystery cache!
Feel free to find as many, or as few, of these caches as you like. If you are hoping to find the 6 mystery caches of the series, you will need to make note of the cards inside, indicating if your find was a "hit" or a "miss". If you are lucky enough to find a "hit" while you are out sailing the high seas of the Chippewa Valley, you should also make note of which ship you hit and the partial coordinates inside for the final mystery cache.
Just like sinking a ship in the Battleship board game, you will need to find all of the caches that represent each letter/number combo for that ship. You may end up needing to find all 100 caches in the series to get those numbers; or you may end up getting lucky, depending on the caches that you find. The ships in this series are....
- Patrol Boat = 2 hits (or finds)
- Destroyer = 3 hits (or finds)
- Submarine = 3 hits (or finds)
- Battleship = 4 hits (or finds)
- Aircraft Carrier = 5 hits (or finds)
If you are an amazing geocacher, you will be able to conquer the high seas of the Chippewa River and find the ultimate prize: The Chippewa Valley Battleship Final!
This series has been hidden with a little bit of everything in mind. There are caches for hikers, PNG's, some with slightly challenging terrain and some with more challenging urban camouflage. So seek the ones that look interesting to you, or seek them all, but we hope that you at least enjoy yourselves!
