Kapakapanui is an isolated summit with its 1102 metre high peak providing great views of the Kapiti coast and Tararua ranges on a clear day.
Can be a challenging day or multi-day tramp, the full loop taking approximately 6 hours to complete.
The track is steep and muddy in places so some past tramping experience is required.
Wet feet are to be expected as there are many unbridged river crossings before the track starts ascending. Do not attempt to cross if the river is in flood.
Always take appropriate gear when tramping, i.e. food, drink, clothing and footwear.
Cache is about a metre off the track but no extreme bush bashing is necessary. It is well disguised and only contains logbook so please bring your own pen. No room for swaps or trackables. Logs not corresponding with the logbook will be deleted. Please make sure that the cache is well hidden before you leave.
