The Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery (Old Sherrodsville Catholic Cemetery), located on the East side of Sherrodsville contains 39 interments most of which date to the late 1800's and early 1900's. This is a very old area having some stones that are no longer legible. The village was laid out in 1882 and named after Charles Sherrod, the original owner of the town site. The age of the area is evident by nearby caches.
The area surrounding Sherrodsville was active with coal mines in the early days and once contained several churches for such a small village.
Giving a level 3 terrain due to parking and terrain difficulties. Daylight caching only and please be very respectful of this old area. Don’t forget to BYOP.
