Geocache Description:

The cache has been placed near St Mary's Church, Lisnagade, County Down.

There is plenty of parking available near GZ

The original Lisnagade Mass House was burned to the ground in the summer of 1790,  The present St. Mary's Church was built as a replacement, at the behest of Fr. Malone, a couple of years later.   It stands in a small cemetery. Fr. Edward Campbell (writing in 1938), believed that the cemetery had been in use from at least 1770 and that it was extended in 1830. An annuity for the land, which had belonged to the Trevor Family of Lisnagade, was being paid by the parish until 1865.

The Church Micro IE series is open to everyone; if you have a church you would like to place a cache at then please contact THE_Chris through Geocaching.com. This is to keep track of the numbers of the churches and give you the general format for the cache page. In the UK there are thousands in the series so we have some catching up to do! Also, if you currently have a published cache at a church that you would like to include in the series, get in contact and we can add it.
