Geocache Description:

While this area has long been a popular tourist destination, it hasn't always been easy to get here. In the earliest days, steamers would dock along the rugged north shore of the Columbia River, and a stagecoach would take passengers north to hotels and church camps. A few years later, train tracks were laid and the "Clamshell Railroad" would take tourists to their destinations up and down the peninsula and transport oysters south to waiting customers in Portland and elsewhere. Eventually, as horseless carriages and finally modern day vehicles became commonplace, the area was relatively accessible to the general public and the days of elegant hotels gave way to more economical motels, beach cabins and campgrounds.

The Breakers holds the distinction of being on the same piece of property since 1900. The Breakers Hotel maintained its own Jersey herd, poultry ranch, icehouse, and vegetable garden to supply the freshest ingredients to its guests. With hot and cold salt water in every bathroom, telephones, electric bells and even a post office, guests were truly living in luxury. Rooms at the Breakers Hotel rented from $2.00 to $3.00 per day depending on the location in the hotel.

You'll find the cache along a public access trail, with the trailhead waypoint coordinates posted down below on the cache page.
