Did you know that there are 742 fire departments within the state of Oklahoma? Out of those 742 fire departments, did you know that over 87% of those are made up of volunteers? Comanche County alone, is home to 20 volunteer fire departments.
Those of us who live outside of city limits depend on the volunteers here and at the other volunteer stations for fire protection of our homes and property. For response to medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, and also search and rescue. All with zero compensation for doing so with minimal equipment and funds.
Congrats to Meggabah for the FTF.
The Hulen Volunteer Fire Department has existed here since 1982 and has protection areas in both Comanche and Cotton counties spanning a total of 55 square miles.
