Geocache Description:

The cache is a rubbermaid container located at the end of a manmade canal in a nice tranquil spot. The little bay is a frequented favourite by herons and the occasional beaver. There is a picnic table set up if you like to take some time out and bring a snack.

The canal leading out to McPhee Bay in Lake Simcoe was originally introduced to accomodate the adjacent marina constructed in 1969. Cottages on the opposite side followed in in it's path over time enjoying the benefits of lake access. The cache is a short walk from the McRae Provincial Park or Joyland beach Community Centre which also provides a good parking spot. Follow the path downhill on the public road between two properties across from the Community Centre. Watch your footing as you cross the little bridge. If camping at McRae Park, the nicest way to experience it is by water. Paddle along the forested shoreline and enter the canal to Marina del Rey all the way to the end.
