On the top of this slope, there was a residence of Edward Hazlett Hunter, a English bussiness pserson who launched a shipbuilding company.
The residence was dismantled and moved to Oji-park in 1961 and designated as a cultural asset of national importance.
この坂を登り切った高台に、1843年にイギリスで生れ，1867年に神戸に来て，貿易業のかたわら造船業をおこした E.H.ハンター氏の邸宅があった。
この異人館は，昭和36年(1961年)に解体され，王子公園に移築されて重要文化財として保存されている。
