Geocache Description:

An informal Event Cache is being held in a historic hotel in Cowbridge in order to meet "Steinmann" and exchange any trackables that wants to go to Germany. Meet in the front bar (on the left) of The Bear Hotel any time between 20.00 and 21.30hrs.

Who is "Steinmann" you may ask?

Steinmann (aka Thomas) is a German Geocacher with over 15,000 finds and 400 hides to his name. He is also an amateur radio enthusiast and he comes to South Wales most years to spend some time with the Barry Amateur Radio Society as part of their annual pilgrimage to Flat Holm, which they have now done for the past 45 years to experiment with amateur radio, just as Marconi and Kemp did in May 1897.

Thomas made contact with the South Wales Geocaching Community eight years ago with a view to meeting some local geoccahers and to exchanging trackables - this we did over a drink or two in 2008 and then the following year we set up a formal "Meet Steinmann" Event. This has now become a regular get together when ever he is over from Germany. One year Steinmann co-hosted a Geocaching Event on Flat Holm as part of the Welsh MEGA.

For those of you that have visited Flat Holm this is also an opportunity to thank Thomas for the caches that he has set on the Island. For those that haven't - well it's an opportunity to have a drink or a bite to eat!
