River Roads #14 - Wye Street (Wellington) Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

TheCoddiwompler: As there has been no response to the email I sent on 12 June I am disabling this cache as it has been moved too close to the final location of a puzzle cache, so will need to be moved. Details are in the email.

If the cache is not relocated with 30 days, it will be archived.

Geocache Description:

This is the fourteenth cache in a series of 16 that will take you around Wellington’s southern suburb of Island Bay where many of the roadways are named after British rivers.

Fifteen of the caches are at the coordinates given for them. You need to record the number inside the lid of each cache to find the coordinates to a 16th cache (GC6NN4W) that contains a special geocoin for the FTF, featuring something else that Island Bay is famous for.

The coordinates for the 16th cache are South ABo CD.EFG East HIJo KL.MNO, where A is the number inside the lid of River Roads #1 – Dee Street, B is the number inside the lid of River Roads #2 – Tamar Street and so on up to O, which is inside the lid of River Roads #15 – Severn Street.

Wye Street

Wye Street is named after the River Wye, the fifth-longest river in the UK, stretching some 215 kilometres or 134 miles from its source on Plynlimon in mid-Wales to the Severn Estuary. The lower 16 miles (26 km) of the river from Redbrook to Chepstow forms the border between England and Wales.

The Wye flows through or past several towns and villages including Rhayader, Builth Wells, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford (the only city on the River Wye), Ross-on-Wye, Symonds Yat, Monmouth and Tintern, meeting the Severn Estuary just below Chepstow.

The Wye Valley (lower part) is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Wye is important for nature conservation and recreation.

The cache

This is a straightforward park ‘n’ grab, but is in a residential area, so please respect the residents’ privacy and be discreet. There’s no need to enter private property or leave the pavement. Bring your own pen or pencil.

You are looking for a small Bison-type silver container. Please replace it exactly as you found it and do please log a DNF if you can’t find it. There’s no shame in a DNF! This is particularly important, as this is a series of caches in which all need to be active for finders to locate the final cache.
