"I believe that adventure is about stretching yourself: mentally, physically or culturally. It is about doing what you do not normally do, pushing yourself hard and doing it to the best of your ability. If that is true then adventure is all around us, at all times. Adventure is accessible to normal people, in normal places, in short segments of time and without having to spend much money.
Adventure is only a state of mind."

#microadventure - friendly floatees
What: A Friday night microadventure
When: 20th May 2016 - 20:07 until 23:32
Where: Herring Island
Why: Because life is too short for boring
This event will send you on a little adventure - a microadventure. If you don't know what that is, just watch the video below.
Melbourne has a great history of adventurous events and we actually had an event like this before. We are going out on an island in the middle of the night and have some fun and games. At the coordinates is a BBQ and some benches and tables. There will be no food provided and unfortunately there is still no kiosk on that Island. It is BYO everything.
Are you intrigued? Then log your will attend and come along for a mid-week adventure. Now you probably have a couple of questions which we tried to anticipate:
FAQs
How do I get onto the island?
That's the fun part! Swimming isn't allowed in the Yarra so you will need a boat.
Can I attend without going to the island?
No. The event is on the island but you can ask someone for a ride.
What happens if it rains?
If severe conditions are expected like a thunderstorm, extreme winds or a zombie outbreak, we will postpone the event. However a little bit of rain doesn't hurt and it is an adventure after all.
Will it be dark?
Yes. Pitch-black actually so bring a torch and make sure your vessel complies with legal requirements.
I don't have anything on the next morning. Can I camp on the island?
Yes that's possible.
You are still here? Good! Trust me - I can also think of a million reasons why this is a stupid idea! And this is why we are doing this and not hiding behind another excuse. Life is just too short for boring. Think about how big your smile will be on Saturday morning.
Adventure is out there
