This Cemetery is very interesting as there were 234 graves and some 26 stones that marked the graves of brave men who fought in the Civil War, one in the war with Spain and one in WWI. Those fighting in the Civil War came from several different states including Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Iowa. The cemetery is very well kept and in the middle is a wire fence and enclosed in this wrought iron Hooper family plot. Joseph H.N. Hooper founded the Hooper Institute in 1876 (this was a school of higher learning in Clarksburg).
There is plenty of parking on the gravel road and at the entrance of the cemetery. If by chance there is a burial at the time that you come, please be reverent and return at a later time. You are looking for a small camouflaged container with a log only. Bring your own writing instrument. Permission has been granted to place the cache. Please replace as found.
