Geocache Description:

Martin’s Springs is where the owner of Sugar Bend Plantation chose to make his “Big House” and now part of Indian Creek Reservoir Lake. William Prince Ford and his three slaves (including Solomon Northup) stopped for a rest. William C.C.C. Martin was one of the most prominent planters of Rapides Parish and president of the parish police jury.

William “3 C’s” Martin is buried in this cemetery.

Down the road is Alexandria State Forest’s self-checking kiosk (31o 05.493 N, 92o 28.170 W) not far from boat ramp to Indian Creek.
