Covered bridges aren't common in California but there are three in Humboldt County. This series was created to encourage you to come out and see them.
The Zanes Ranch bridge is the second covered bridge off of Elk River Road on the way out to the Headwaters Preserve. It was built in 1937 and is 52 feet long. The best parking and turn around is on the other side of the bridge so go ahead and drive across! While I encourage you to walk around and explore the bridge, maybe take some wedding or family photos (seriously, it's that scenic), you don't need to go onto the bridge to find the cache, though it's close by.
