Congratulations to Team SW&L for FTF!
Before we started this series, we looked at the geocaching map and discovered that the whole length of Southern Avenue from I-10 to 75th Avenue contained exactly three geocaches(!) in just over 14 miles. So we thought we'd do our part to rectify this situation by placing some caches along the "sights" of Southern and the odd place here and there. This is the 3rd cache in our Smilies of Southern series, so we've now doubled the original 3 to 6. Warning: this cache is not a P&G!
Parking is available on the west side of the park, off 20th St. You will have about a 500 foot walk over level ground. Since this is a park, there can be lots of people especially on the weekends. Be nonchalant. Part of the difficulty rating is due to the high muggle factor.
Coords will take you to a pine tree. The only thing significant about this pine tree is that it holds a cache, whereas the others in the park do not. You will have to look with an eagle eye. Once you sign the log, gently allow the cache to return to its home and insure it's barely visible, if at all. Please return everything as it was so others can have the same caching experience.
Practicing stealth is a must since this park is very busy after school, and on holidays and weekends. In fact, we don't recommend searching during those times. Please maintain the integrity of the hide. Thank you! Happy hunting!
