NOTE: GPS coverage is funny in San Antonio Valley -- really! This may be due to the military airport nearby, or something else... perhaps it's Alice's Ghost... Regardless of the source, we STRONGLY suggest bringing decrypted clues along on your trip. The clues will lead you right!
In 1898, Alice lost her life—and her head—in a tragic accident while trying to cross the Naciemento River at the site of this cache. Ever since, her spirit has wandered the San Antonio Valley, searching for the head, without which she was buried. Click here to learn the whole story... As you search for the cache, keep you eyes open for Alice's missing head—she would appreciate it's return!
The cache is located on Fort Hunter Liggett, along the road between G14 and Highway 1. To get there from the North, take Highway 101 to G14 (at King City), or, from the South, take Highway 101 to G18 near Bradley, and G18 to G14. G14, (the Jolon Road) will lead you to the main gate of Fort Hunter Liggett. Approximately one-half mile north of the guardpost, turn west on Nacimiento-Ferguson Road. If the guard house at the gate is manned, tell the guard you are visiting Mission San Antonio (which you should), or having lunch at Hearst's Hacienda (which you also should :-).
One other point... we noticed a lot of strange GPS behavior in the San Antonio Valley; either Alice's ghost or the Military, we figured. You may need the encrypted clues to find the cache!
