Tooting common is a rustic and diverse green area of South West London that comprises forest, scrub and grassy areas. The ponds are a quiet and picturesque place to sit and watch the wildlife or fish (seasonal permit required). There is a pleasant cafe nearby, tennis courts, lido and children's play area. There's also a carpark at the Lido end. Walking around the main area of the common will take just over an hour.
This geocahe is located near the ponds and very close to a fossilised tree. The petrified wood, dating from the time of dinosaurs, was placed here in Victorian times.
