This is a beautiful area of rolling hills covered by acres of dryland wheat as well as areas left untouched by man. The Sagebrush Flat unit is located 15 miles north of Ephrata and encompasses 3,740 acres. As the name suggests, the area is dominated by mature sagebrush. Numerous shrubsteppe dependent animals make their home here including the white-tailed rabbit, sage grouse, sage thrasher and sage sparrow among others. You may see birds of prey, eagles, songbirds, upland birds, waterfowl, deer and small mammals, butterflies, reptiles & amphibians, and an assortment of wildflowers.
Caches are available 24/7. During summer months, be cautious of snakes and ticks and any other biting or stinging creature. Each cache will have an area nearby to pull off the road. I hope you enjoy the drive.
