Butter Factory Corner BC (Marlborough) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Kiwimykl:
Recent development of this area means this cache is on borrowed time.
Also, I have never been 100% happy with vehical access back onto SH1 from this cache so for safety reasons, I am archiving this cache.

There will be something to replace it nearby soon.

Thanks to everyone who has found and logged this cache.

Geocache Description:

The meaning of the name of this infamous corner known to all drivers heading out of town to Christchurch will soon be just a memory; in the interests of road safety, the WW1-era butter factory building has been demolished and the road realigned. This cache has been placed and named so the history of this corner is not forgotten.

If you have done any of my other BBC caches this won't be a problem. In fact it shouldn't be a problem if you haven't done any of them The container is a suitably camo'd mint tin held in place by an invisible force. Logbook only in a zip-lock bag so BYOP.

Best attempted while travelling south. Plenty of room to pull off here to turn and park behind the barrier. Take the opportunity to get out and stretch your legs and walk over to the river edge and admire the view. You might even catch sight of the River Queen plying her trade up or down the Opawa River.

SAFETY WARNINGS This is a busy road so please be mindful of the children who are caching with you. This is the reason my BBC Series are micros and have no swag, swaps or trades and have a 'Not Suitable for Children' attribute. . Also keep an eye on them if they go near the water. Be careful when re-joining the traffic flow.
