Apostle Battery
Situated on the slopes of the First Apostle, overlooking Llandudno, this battery was built during the 2nd World War.
With the outbreak of war,, it was decided to modernise the south African defences when this Battery was constructed.
When guided missiles were introduced into modern warfare, Coastal Defence
Counter-Bombardment was rendered obsolete and the Apostle Battery was closed down.
The site is now used as a recreational centre for police holidays and youth camps. It maybe later upgraded as a tourist site. We hope so as the photos of the old guns etc look great.
