Geocache Description:

Like its predecessor, Cacheapalooza 7 reached Mega Event status. The main event was held on January 19, 2013 with 575 names on the event log and 285-attended logs. Attendance might have been higher if rain had not arrived in the afternoon and continued much of the rest of the day. EyeCache led the crew and this year's theme was "Lucky Number Seven." There were 232 new caches placed, with another 100 being retained from the previous year. Other activities included a poker run, GPS accuracy test, photo scavenger hunt, raffle, pizza and salad dinner, and a presentation by JDSP Archaeological Resources Monitor Barry Richardson, about Camp Murphy, the army camp located in the area during World War II. The CP7 weekend kicked off with Coinapalooza II, again a Thursday night event hosted by John&Jelene at the Corner Cafe in Tequesta. Despite rain closing off the outdoor patio, over a hundred cachers packed inside to meet-n-greet and discover trackables. On Friday morning, Joshism and Gator Man led roughly two dozen canoers and kayakers down the wild & scenic Loxahatchee River from Riverbend Park to the JDSP boat ramp in an all-day Paddlepalooza. The Lucky Friday Night Games drew more than a hundred people for another exciting team event and the classic ammo can toss. On Sunday morning, more than seventy cachers pitched in for the CITO, removing invasive periwinkles and rattlebox. After the CITO, more than a hundred cachers gathered at Hobe Mountain Tower for a photo flash mob. Monday's event consisted of a short breakfast get together. Notable attendees included Team Snook, legendary Florida cacher/outdoorsman Boonieman, Florida Reviewers Palmetto and Trackfile, and cachers from distant locations such as Alaska, Canada, England, Germany, Hungary, and Japan.

History by Joshism.
