Hi, I am Butch Cassidy. You probably already have heard of me. But just for reminding, I was born in Utah in 1866 as Rober Leroy Parker. When I grew up I became an outlaw and therfore changed my name because I did not want to put shame on my family. I like to rob banks and trains, not for money, but because it is my hobby.
I want to show you the second bank I robbed. I did that with my buddies Elzy Lay and Bob Meeks because I needed money for lawyer for my friend who was in jail, Matt Warner. I chose Montpelier in Idaho because I knew the area very well. After familiarizing with the place we robbed the bank on August 13, 1896.
We succeded and took $ 5.000 from the bank. It was enough for the lawyer and we helped our friend Matt to get out from jail. But poor Bob was caught one year later and ended up in jail for the longest stretch in Idaho history.
And me? Everybody think that I died in Bolivia in 1908 but who knows... I am still here and I still have something to say and I am still alive in your stories. And remember, I haven't killed anybody in my life! I always helped those in need but unfortunately sometimes I had to walk the thin line between law and lawlessness.
